What do I do if I get a citation/courtesy letter/door hanger?

The best first step is to call the code enforcement officer named on the notice. He or she will discuss the violations with you and work out a timeline for it to be fixed. You may request additional time if progress is being made. However, some problems are serious and may require immediate correction. Ignoring the notice may result in fines and penalties.
