If you’re looking for a delicious and authentic Thai dining experience in Brownsburg, look no further than Thai District. This popular eatery, located in the heart of downtown Brownsburg, offers a menu full of traditional Thai dishes and flavors that will surely please any food lover.
The restaurant opened in 2019, one of the first to open in the Green Street Depot in downtown Brownsburg.
“My feeling was that we needed a nice sit-down restaurant here in Brownsburg,” Co-owner Siri (June) Fiedeldey explained. Co-owners Saowalux (Pooky) Farynd and Siri (June) Fiedeldey (pictured right) are both from Thailand, but June found a home in Brownsburg over ten years ago. June previously worked as the General Manager of Bangkok Kitchen in Avon, one of the 15 Thai restaurants Pooky owns in Indiana.
“It was perfect because, at the time, there wasn’t another Thai restaurant in Brownsburg,” Pooky added.
However, according to June, the decision to establish the company’s location in Brownsburg was based on more than just logistics.
“I love our town,” June said. “Our community is always there to lend a helping hand whenever we need it. There was a time during winter when our heating system wasn’t working properly, but one of our loyal customers was able to assist us in getting it fixed by the next day. We value the community and support surrounding us, and it’s an integral part of our business.”
While visitors may stop at Thai District for authentic food, Pooky and June worked hard to ensure every aspect of the diner’s experience felt like they were visiting the home of a sophisticated Thai friend, warm and inviting.
“To create a unique atmosphere, we focused on incorporating as much from Thailand as we could,” June explained. “From our decorations to the food, service, and even music, we thought of everything to create an authentic experience for our customer.”
Thai District restaurant’s menu offers an extensive selection of Thai classics and unique dishes that cater to various palettes. From the classic Pad Thai, the spicy lemongrass Tom Yum soup, to the rich and creamy Panang curry, there’s something for everyone. The restaurant provides a range of vegetarian and vegan dishes and gluten-free options making it an excellent dining option for those with dietary restrictions. Furthermore, the menu keeps up with the changing seasons, featuring seasonal items like pumpkin curry for fall.
“We know we have something unique for the local community because we’ll get people from other countries or other cities that say they were excited to come and try our food,” Pooky said.
Over the last few years, Thai District has quickly risen to become a local favorite, earning several local awards, including “Neighborhood Favorite” from Nextdoor in 2020 and 2023 and “Indy’s Best Local Thai Restaurant” from IndyStar for 2022 and 2023.
“We’re excited to continue growing, learning about our community, and getting to know our customers,” June shared. “And we’ll continue to be the best Thai restaurant!”
