Recruitment Process
The Brownsburg Police Department places a priority interest and is actively involved in the selection and placement of personnel utilizing a recruitment plan given necessity, applicant qualifications and budget constraints. This department strives to meet or exceed State standards on officer qualifications for employment while maintaining an equal employment opportunity and discrimination-free environment.
Recruitment & Selection
A task as important as the recruitment and selection of law enforcement personnel should be approached from a positive viewpoint. The Brownsburg Police Department, through the authority of the Town of Brownsburg government and administration, identifies and employs the best candidates available, not merely eliminates the least qualified. The benefits of positive recruitment and selection policies are manifested in a lower rate of personnel turnover, fewer disciplinary problems, higher morale, better community relations, and more efficient services.
Equal Employment Opportunity
The Brownsburg Police Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer that supports the Americans with Disabilities Act, (ADA) and responds to reasonable requests for job accommodations and takes reasonable action to employ qualified individuals with disabilities. This agency is committed to making reasonable sustained, diligent efforts to identify and consider such individuals for employment and for possible advancement opportunities arising during employment.
Will & Pleasure
The employment of employees of the Brownsburg Police Department is for an indefinite term and continues at the pleasure of the Town of Brownsburg. At any time, the Brownsburg Police Department or Town of Brownsburg may dismiss and discipline employees within the guidelines of departmental policy as determined by the Chief of Police or his designee. Sworn personnel dismissal is subject to Indiana Code 36-8-3-4.
