The Brownsburg Police Department is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Wednesdays 4-7 pm) except on federal holidays. Citizens can obtain help with the following: 


Public Access Request Form

The Brownsburg Police Department complies with Indiana public access laws by making copies of accident, incident and arrest reports available upon request. Any citizen may request a copy using the Public Access Request Form; however, it should be noted that juvenile information is protected and will not be released. Also, the narrative portion of the incident and arrest reports will not be released as it is considered investigatory. Sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, dates of birth, addresses, and phone numbers are also redacted for identity protection purposes. Public access procedures are in compliance with the Access to Public Records Act.

Crash Report

For faster and more convenient service obtaining copies of accident reports electronically, citizens can purchase a copy of the crash report through a third-party.

Police Report Run or Tape Reproduction

All requests for tape reproduction and police run reports must be obtained from the Hendricks County Communication Center (HCCC). Complete the request form which will be forwarded once completed.

Firearms

Citizens who reside in the corporate limits of the Town of Brownsburg can apply for a firearm carry permit or hunting and targeting permit at the Brownsburg Police Department, including the required fingerprinting. However, an online application is required by the Indiana State Police. Citizens who apply online and pay the State of Indiana fee are still required to report to the Brownsburg Police Department to pay their local fee within 30 days. Fingerprinting can be done at the police department or at L1 locations provided on the Indiana State Police website.

Firearm Registration

Citizens may register their firearms with the Brownsburg Police Department, which then files the information with the State of Indiana. This is voluntary. Persons who wish to do so must bring in the unloaded weapon for serial number and model verification, along with photo identification.

Public Events

All parades, block parties, 5K walks and runs, bike rides, and motorcycle riders must fill out the Parade or Public Gathering Request form

Community Service Work Requests

The Brownsburg Police Department, in cooperation with Hendricks County Probation, may provide opportunities for persons ordered to complete community service. However, the department is under no obligation to do so and a request may be denied for any reason. Please complete the form and be prepared to submit a copy of your probation paperwork upon request. A representative of the department will contact you within seven business days regarding your request.

Fees paid to the State of Indiana must be in the form of a money order or cashier's check. Fees paid to the Brownsburg Police Department in cash must be the exact amount.
